SAS IMO Boards
Seaward Safety's SAS IMO Boards are photoluminescent pictorial based signage boards
utilising the recommended images contained in the ISO 24409 and ISO 7010 Standards.
These symbols identify lifesaving equipment and safe evacuation route pictographs that are
used during emergencies to identify escape routes and are designed to comply with
requirements of SOLAS Chapter III, Regulation 9.2.3 and IMO Resolution A.1116 (30)
Advantages of our SAS IMO Boards
• Our photoluminescent material self-charges with any ambient lighting, whether natural
or artificial. During testing, after 60 minutes of all illuminating sources being removed,
the luminance exceeded the requirement (as per regulations set out in ISO 15370) by
almost quintuple the minimum value.
• Complies to IMO/ISO recommendations.
• Comprehensive range of pictographs available, please see pages 100-102.
How our SAS IMO Boards are configured
Firstly, the requirement for signage will need to be ascertained by either your own personnel
or one of our experienced Surveyors. If the latter, a survey report will be generated for your
approval, documenting recommended board sizes, pictographs, fitting location/methods and
any additional observations and findings. Following approval, the board will be manufactured
and supplied ready for installation. The most common substrate material used for our
SAS IMO boards is Dibond, an aluminium composite, although alternatives are available.
