Legislation of Platform Identification Signs
It is a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirement that the name of an installation should be
clearly displayed on an offshore facility. A Platform ID sign displays the name of a facility and
should be readily identified from both the air and sea, from all normal angles/directions of
approach and in all light conditions.

Seaward Safety’s Platform Identification Signs
Using an aluminium composite substrate material and backed onto stainless steel frames, our
ID signs are a lightweight, cost effective alternative to the original steel sheet ID signs.
Having been adopted globally, on many facilities, our ID signs continue to perform in the
harshest of weather conditions, typical of the offshore industry.

To achieve the necessary reflective properties of an ID sign, two reflective materials are
frequently used. These are Diamond and Engineering Grade, both available in white and
yellow, which clearly displays the contrasting black lettering.
